Last week, a shockwave went through Azeroth. A bunch of Honorbuddy users received a six month ban. As someone who has never botted, this delights me. If this is your misery, I sympathize but you have been a douche for using it and don't even try to act surprised this happened to you. Sit it out, and return in November (less fraudulent please).
However, the interesting part is: does this create opportunities? Honorbuddy has been the friend in dire need for many to do their leveling, their honor point grinding and farming. Fishing has been an integral part of that. Who wants to spend hours on end casting a fishing rod in WoW. Well, as long as it is efficient, it’s me!
Now I've been staring at Nat Pagle's new Draenor goods for a while. Two companion pets, a flashy new recolor of the water strider mount are on my wish list. However, during Mists of Pandaria my mage did all the fishing. She is best friends with Nat, had the fishing chair, the hat the fishing pole, and my shaman has absolutely nothing.
Fishing works like this: have a max skill level + items that increase your skill level = fishing becomes surprisingly easy, fast, efficient and sometimes even incredibly profitable. Needless to say, I've been putting this off on my shaman since the start of WoD. All I did was arrange for max level fishing and my level three fishing shack (completionist.. can't help it).
The mount and pets are bought with Nat's Lucky Coins (mount 100, pets 50 each). There's two ways to obtain these coins: lunkers (1) and lunarfall carps (2). When fishing up lunkers you know you will get one coin for each lunker, and with fishing up a lunarfall carp its merely a possibility to get one or two from your kill.
All this rambling aside, here is what has been happening. I picked up the daily at my (level three) fishing shack. It was time to catch fire ammonites. Flew over to Frostfire Ridge, used a basic fishing rod and the +100 lure that I had received previously from a lunarfall cavedweller. As soon as the Fire Ammonite Lure dropped I used it and that’s when within a few casts I caught three lunkers.
Any WoW player should immediately check the sources when this happens, because this was either super RNG or something a very effective lunker/coin farming situation. Normally, Elsanglin.com would have been my go-to-place for information. But for a couple of months, El has gone missing. Without his expertise, I’ll try to sort this out.
My hunch was, that while on the daily your chances of catching lunkers may well be increased. So today I picked up the daily (again Fire Ammonites), and I caught two lunkers in a time span of 15 minutes (waiting for garrison heart stone to come back up). A little disappointing right?
Regardless, I’ve decided to add this to my daily wow activities for now. I will be collecting my lunkers for the coins and ultimately the mount and pets. Meanwhile, I’ll have plenty of 125 stat food for my Mythic progression. Last but not least: all the remaining stat food will find its way to the Auction House. Because with so few botters, that delicious stat food price will surely be increasing!
